191 eviction hearings in November, December 2020 and January 2021

Medallion Corporation and its founders, the Bleeman family, have long been accused of dangerous neglect and failing to adequately support tenants in emergency situations. In 2016, the company responded to a burst pipe at a building in Hamilton by attempting to remove tenants from 60 units with only two days notice and limited compensation, only relenting after tenants organized and demanded better treatment. In 2018, a massive electrical fire at a Medallion building in Toronto displaced more than 1,500 tenants, sparking protests and legal battles over the company's failure to live up to its basic obligations.
